The Film: „The Pursuits of Happyness“

„The Pursuits of Happyness“ is a biographical drama Film based on the same named book composed by Chris Gardner the successful bank broker over his own life story.

The film was directed by Gabriele Muccino in 2006.

The act is about Chris Gardner who lifes at the beginning of 1980th in San Francisco.

He works as a commercial agent who tries to demonstrate new portable bone-density scanners and sell them to doctors. But by reason that they are a lot more expensive then all the other bone-density scanners, he is not really successful.

That`s why his wife Linda leaves him and moves to New York, their son Christopher remains with his father.

Chris is surching a better job and get a 6 moth practical course in a broker bank without settlement, so he hasn’t got enought money to pay the rent and after a while they have to life on the street.

For all the situation he tries to be a good father for Chris and make a good job in his practical course.

At the Ende, he pass the test in his course and get a job in the broker bank.

Christopher Paul Gardner

Christopher Paul Gardner or Chris Gardner is an American stockbroker, who is the CEO (chief executive officer) of the company „Gardner Rich & Co“. Mr. Gardner is also the author of „The Pursuit of Happyness“,which is an autobiography of his life.

He raised up from homelessness to a multimillionaire and thus represents the idea of the „American Dream“.

Chris was born in Milwaukee at February 9, 1954. His childhood was filled with poverty, violence and alcoholism. He grew up with his mother and his stepfather until his mother had to go to jail. Once that happened he was put into a nursing home with his siblings.After he had finished high school, he joined the Navy and then he moved to San Francisco, where he started working as a medical assistant. He tried to earn his money with selling medical equipment.He also married and got a son, Chris Gardner Jr..

One day in San Francisco, Chris saw a men driving a ferrari. He asked him what he does and how he does it. This little meeting became a friendship and the men, Bob Bridges, who was a stockbroker, told Chris everything about his job.Mr. Bridges arranged an unpayed internship for Mr. Gardner at the stock market , where he learned everything about the broker job.During this time he became homeless, because he did not earn enough money to live in a flat with his son. After a year he got a job as a stockbrocker and was able to found his own company„Gardner Rich & CO“ in 1987.

Today, Chris Gardner lives in Chicago with his two children. In recent years he was active in several organizations working for children’s rights and education. In addition he sponsors several awards, such as the American Federation of Teachers’ Paraprofessionels and School-Related Personnel Award (PSRP).Furthermore he advises and teaches homeless people and financed a 50 million Dollar residental project for them.

His company „Gardner Rich & Co“ is headquarterd in Chicago, Illinois.Mr. Gradners net worth is calculated to about 60 million Dollars.Chris Gardner has published his autobiography „The Pursuit of Happyness“ in 2006.In the same year they made a film of Gardners life, with Will Smith as maincharacter.

In addition, Mr. Gardner wrote a second book, which was published in april, 2010. It is called„Start Where You Are: Life Lessons in Getting from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be“In this book, Chris answers all the questions the people asked him. In addition, he created a plan which shows everybody what he has to do to be successfull.He said that he only wanted to answer the thousands of questions like „How can i do what you did, too?“ once. That was the reason for him to write another book.
